About the game
The team says “you’ll be able to shoot up a lot of zombies like in Left 4 Dead, but there’s a whole lot of new stuff in Back 4 Blood which makes it unique.”
In terms of details, things are a little limited, but we know that there’ll be an eventual PC release, and that the game will be a “premium, AAA title.” Sadly, there’s no release date for now, but we do know there’ll be a campaign, PvP gameplay, and no battle royale gameplay. None of that is too surprising, but it’s comforting to know that Turtle Rock isn’t straying too far from its roots.
The team behind the iconic zombie shooter Left 4 Dead has announced its new project. Turtle Rock, who originally worked with Valve on the series, have just announced Back 4 Blood, a co-op zombie shooter which sounds an awful lot like a spiritual successor to their acclaimed franchise.
In an announcement that was posted earlier today, Turtle Rock said that “Back 4 Blood is designed from the ground-up as an original, premium title and marries the best of what made the co-op shooter so successful with new features and state-of-the art technology.” In an FAQ, Back 4 Blood is described simply as “a co-op zombie FPS with new features.”
The team isn’t using the phrase ‘spiritual successor’ for itself, but it’s clear from its announcement that that’s basically what we have here. Studio co-founder Chris Ashton says that the game will be a “return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains.”
